Kelly Thornton started acting when at 14 when she was spotted on Grafton Street and asked to audition for Lance Daly’s feature film Life’s A Breeze. She got the lead role of Emma, alongside Fionnula Flanagan and Pat Shortt. For this role she won the Bingham Ray New Talent award at the Galway Film Fleadh and was nominated for best lead actress at the IFTAs in 2014. Last year she appeared as a guest lead in Love/Hate season 4 and she has just finished filming John Carney’s latest feature Sing Street (USA 2015) alongside Jack Reynor, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Aidan Gillen. She plays a lead role in RTE drama Clean Break which will air later this year. Kelly says that she is looking forward to being a part of this project as the story holds a lot of meaning for her and she can’t wait to get started. We are very excited to have Kelly on board and think that she is going to make a perfect ‘Molly’.
